A complete and highly atmospheric soundtrack, immersion and lore expansion, with a few new items and structures to boot.
Made as part of Legacies, with the aim of reimagining the core principles of vanilla Minecraft. Explore, adventure and survive in an all-new world. If you like Legacies and Legends, I highly recommend you check out Legacies!
My design process, as an example, wasn't to show you what's on the other side of the Ancient City portal, or what else is out there in the End, or even to explain the past - it's to make you wonder what could be, such as vanilla's open-ended lore, only expanded.
Legacies and Legends is, finally, a soundtrack expansion, the first of its kind in this sense. It also adds new items, structures and lore - and ultimately will enrich your playthroughs or even modpacks without changing the core experience.
The entirety of Legacies and Legends is configurable via in-game GUI or json5.
Legacies and Legends introduces several new tracks to the game, all thematic to their locations and carefully selected to ensure they blend perfectly with vanilla.
Several new songs (including some left-out ones from the official soundtracks) are added to the game's base soundtrack for various biomes, as well as a bonus track for when you light the end portal. This includes new biome-specific music pools such as for Dark Forests, Savannas & snowy biomes. These tracks are considerately weighted to ensure vanilla and C418 music still get their chances to shine. Special thanks to Firel for composing Only the Beginning as a new end track for this mod!
Additionally, Legacies and Legends features configurable structure-specific music for Strongholds & Ancient Cities.

Summary
Most structures have seen their loot tables reworked or rebalanced in a vanilla-like fashion - for example, End Cities are mostly untouched, but a Jungle Temple has a few additional items in addition to the chests containing more overall items on average than vanilla. In other cases, you may find entirely new items to the loot tables, such as the enchanted stone tools that can be found rarely in underwater ruins. Regardless the structure, there's a good chance it's seen some changes, anywhere from a slight tweak to a complete overhaul.
I haven't just used existing loot in these updated loot tables, however. I've taken some inspiration from Minecraft's early days - filled with random new features and items that often had no reason to exist, but did anyway. There are a few other small items that provide an enriched loot experience.
Sapphire
Sapphire is a new, incredibly rare gem ore which is never exposed to air (though it may be exposed to water). It can be used to craft Wands & Tablets
Music Discs
Pottery Sherds
Enchantments
For a full & compreshensive enchanting overhaul, check out Enchants and Expeditions
Legacies and Legends includes quite a few new structures, all small and carefully balanced to keep them nice, rare and unobtrusive - perfect for vanilla integration... and expanding on the lore.
While there are quite a few new structures, spawning has been-fine tuned to ensure the structure-clutter problems faced by other structure projects are avoided.
You can view the gallery for examples
Dungeon Overhaul - a comprehensive expansion on the vanilla Dungeon structure, filled with new rooms, loot, variants and more. The go-to structure to get Boomerangs and their exclusive enchantments. Comes in up to 6 variants - Simple, Deep, Arid, Frozen, Verdant or Infernal (requires Wilder Wild)
Ruins - archaeological site with variant types, found in Taigas and Jungles
Forest Ruins - 2 variant types for each biome they can spawn in, which are Birch Forests, Cherry Groves and Maple Forests (the latter requires Wilder Wild)
Obelisks - archaeological sites found in Dark Forests (Obelisk) or Pale Gardens (Shattered Obelisk)
Swamp Hut Variants - 3 new Swamp Hut variants, including a modified vanilla one
Deep Ruins - found at y -52, 2 variant types
Sculk Ruins - replaces the Deep Ruins in the Deep Dark biome, 2 variant types
Ruined Libraries - found in Plains and Forests, 2 variant types
Underground Cabins - has 3 different cabin layouts, 3 shaft layouts and multiple ore layouts, in both Underground (Stone) & Deep (Deepslate) variants
Pale Cabin - found in the Pale Garden, 2 variant types

Ruined Aether Portals - found in the Nether, 4 variant types
End Remnants - often-buried ruin found in the outer End, 3 variant types
End Ruins - surface structure found in the outer End, 3 variant types
Artifacts are new, unique loot items, the idea of which is inspired by other games, like Terraria. They're unique, rare and fun to find - plus individually configurable, if you're not interested in any of them.
Armor and Weapons
Tablets
Tablets are single-use consumables with varying times to use. If you are hit while using a totem, the activation is cancelled and you must try again
Using a tablet has a chance to return a blank Tablet, which can be used with Sapphire in order to craft new tablets, as each has a specific recipe which can be viewed with JEI/REI or in the recipe book
The tablet recipes involve Sapphire, a blank Tablet & an ingredient specific to the tablet, which is disclosed in brackets below
Tablet of Recall | After a long use duration, you are teleported to your spawn point. Does not work between dimensions. Found from Dungeons, Strongholds, Forest Ruins, Deep Ruins, Abandoned Mineshafts, Ruined Portals and End Cities. May also be traded by Wandering Traders, if Villager Config is installed (Ingredient: Diamonds)
Tablet of Revealing | After a short use duration, all nearby entities are revealed through the Glowing effect. Found in Mineshafts and traded by Wandering Traders, if Villager Config is installed (Ingredient: Glow Berries)
Tablet of Haste | After a short use duration, apples the haste effect. Found in Mineshafts and traded by Wandering Traders, if Villager Config is installed (Ingredient: Gold Ingots)
Tablet of Deafening | After a long use duration, lets out a shriek and gives all nearby entities Darkness, Weakness and Slowness for a short time. Found in Ancient Cities (Ingredient: Echo Shards)
Tablet of Channeling | After a long use duration, thunder roars and a storm appears. Found in Woodland Mansions (Ingredient: Copper Ingot)
Tablet of Instability | Lowers gravity & makes you phase through entities and projectiles. Found in Deep Ruins, Sculk Ruins & Deep Dungeons (Ingredient: Phantom Membrane)
Tablet of Warping | You teleport a short distance whenever you take damage, or before a projectile would hit you. Found in End Cities (Ingredient: Chorus Fruit)
Legacies and Legends features a singular new inventory slot, which allows you to equip a plethora of accessories, including Totems, Rings, Necklaces & Amulets. The entirety of the accessories system, alongside individual accessories, can be disabled in the config.
For descriptions on what these do, it is suggested to look in-game as they each have a custom explanatory item tooltip
To view where most accessories can be found, please refer to here
Totems
Totems save you from death and are consumed when doing so
Amulets
Amulets use their durability as a charge meter that regenerates passively over time, and decreases when their effect is used. If the charge runs out, the amulet is destroyed
Rings
Rings lose durability whenever their specific effect is used. They can each be repaired with the correct repair materials for the specific ring
Necklaces
_Necklaces lose durability in the same way as armor. They can each be repaired with the correct repair materials for the specific necklace
Finally, the piece that brings it all together. Lore. The lore expansion is closely linked with many new structures, items and even music, but there's an added component - many structures now have a very low chance to contain a lore book, a written book with a short excerpt of lore embedded. There are quite a few, and are designed to complement the very minimalistic and open-ended lore and story of the base game in similar ways.
There are a total of 22 unique written lore books to discover.
They've all been carefully written, and are fully vanilla-compliant and not immersion breaking (they are quite open-ended and aren't throwing made-up lore at you) whatsoever, even if you dislike the idea of them. Trust me, find one and you'll get what I mean.
For obvious reasons, I can't say more about this, but I hope you have a blast uncovering all the new lore over your playthroughs.
Echo Shards can now be used as a Trim Material
Improved Wandering Trader trades when used with VillagerConfig
Legacies and Legends uses Cloth Config and Mod Menu for its config. Details on what certain config options do are provided in the in-game Mod Menu GUI via the tooltip shown when you hover over an option, so that is the intended way to view the configuration options. The default json5 config generated by the mod is also provided below for reference.
