About

Frametica - Cinematic Cutscene Framework for Minecraft

Frametica is a powerful and comprehensive mod for Minecraft Forge that provides a complete toolkit for creating cinematic cutscenes and animated sequences directly within the game. Designed for content creators, map makers, and server administrators, Frametica enables you to craft professional-quality cinematic experiences without leaving Minecraft.

Purpose and Function

Frametica serves as a specialized framework for creating, managing, and playing back cinematic cutscenes in Minecraft. The mod allows players to record camera paths by placing waypoints throughout the world, then replay those paths as smooth, cinematic camera movements. This functionality is essential for:

  • Map Makers: Create immersive introductions, story sequences, and narrative transitions
  • Content Creators: Produce cinematic footage for videos and showcases
  • Adventure Map Developers: Implement cutscenes that enhance storytelling and player immersion

Core Features

🎬 Cutscene System

  • Create and Save Cutscenes: Record camera paths by placing waypoints and save them with custom IDs
  • Playback Control: Play, pause, resume, and stop cutscenes with precise timing control
  • Queue System: Chain multiple cutscenes together for extended sequences
  • Wait Points: Add pauses at specific waypoints to create dramatic timing
  • Single Player Focus: Currently optimized for single-player use (multiplayer support coming in future updates)

📹 Advanced Camera Control

  • Dynamic FOV: Automatically adjust field of view during cutscenes for cinematic effects
  • Camera Roll: Apply camera tilt (roll) for dynamic camera angles
  • Smooth Movement: Professional-grade camera interpolation ensures fluid motion
  • No-Clip Mode: Camera moves freely through blocks during cutscenes
  • Gravity Control: Disable gravity for seamless aerial shots

🎨 Interpolation Methods

Choose from multiple interpolation algorithms to achieve different movement styles:

  • Linear: Constant speed movement
  • Bezier: Smooth, curved paths (default)

🎭 Visual Effects

  • Cinematic Bars: Add letterbox bars (black bars) for true cinematic presentation
  • Particle System: Integrated particle effects management
  • GUI Hiding: Automatically hide HUD elements during cutscenes for clean footage
  • Player Model Rendering: Debug tools for visualizing player positions

⚙️ Advanced Features

  • Custom Duration: Set specific playback durations or use automatic calculation
  • FPS Control: Adjust target FPS (30-300) for different recording needs
  • Smoothness Control: Fine-tune transition smoothness
  • Persistent Storage: Cutscenes are saved and persist across game sessions

Usage

Creating Your First Cutscene

Follow these simple steps to create and play your first cinematic cutscene:

  1. Start Recording Waypoints

    • Stand at your starting position and look in the direction you want the camera to face
    • Type /ft add to place your first waypoint
    • Type /fta v to show placed points
    • Move to your next desired camera position and adjust your view angle
    • Type /ft add again to place another waypoint
    • Repeat this process for all positions you want in your cutscene (minimum 2 waypoints required)
  2. Add Optional Wait Times (Advanced)

    • If you want the camera to pause at a specific waypoint, use /ft add <seconds> where <seconds> is how long to wait
    • Example: /ft add 2.5 will add a waypoint with a 2.5 second pause
  3. Save Your Cutscene

    • Once you've placed all your waypoints, save them with a unique ID
    • Type /ft save <id> where <id> is a name for your cutscene (e.g., /ft save intro_scene)
    • Your waypoints are now saved as a reusable cutscene
  4. Play Your Cutscene

    • Type /ft play <id> to play your saved cutscene (e.g., /ft play intro_scene)
    • The camera will automatically move through all your waypoints smoothly
    • You can pause with /ft pause, resume with /ft resume, or stop with /ft stop
  5. Clear and Start Over (Optional)

    • If you want to create a new cutscene, use /ft clear to remove all current waypoints
    • Then repeat the process from step 1

Example Workflow:

/ft add # Place first waypoint at spawn
/fta v
[Move to position 2]
/ft add # Place second waypoint
[Move to position 3]
/ft add 1.5 # Place third waypoint with 1.5 second pause
[Move to position 4]
/ft add # Place final waypoint
/ft save my_first_cutscene # Save the cutscene
/ft play my_first_cutscene # Play it back!

Basic Workflow

  1. Record a Path: Use /ft add to place waypoints at desired camera positions
  2. Add Wait Times (optional): Use /ft add <waitTime> to add pauses at waypoints
  3. Save the Cutscene: Use /ft save <id> to save your recorded path
  4. Play the Cutscene: Use /ft play <id> to replay your cinematic sequence
