Better With Bags mod that adds wearable, placeable storage to Better Than Adventure
You know what's annoying? Having 27 stacks of cobblestone, 4 different pickaxes, some redstone you'll "use later," and absolutely nowhere to put any of it. Your inventory is full before you even leave the cave.
So I made backpacks.
Better With Bags adds wearable, placeable storage to Better Than Adventure. Craft a small leather satchel, throw it on your back, and suddenly you have room to breathe. Upgrade it as you go. By endgame you're walking around with 36 extra slots strapped to your back. Everything from the recipes to the textures was made to fit the BTA style, so it feels like it was always part of the game.
Adds 5 tiers of backpacks. Equip one in the chestplate slot and your inventory screen extends with extra rows at the bottom. No separate GUI, no keybind to open it. Just open your inventory and the backpack slots are right there. You can also hold a backpack in your hand and right-click to peek inside, sneak + right-click on a block to place it in the world, or sneak + right-click a placed backpack to pick it back up. Contents always stay inside.
Five tiers, each crafted from the previous one:
| Tier | Slots | Speed | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small | 9 | normal | starter bag |
| Medium | 18 | normal | |
| Large | 27 | up to -10% | slows based on how full it is |
| Reinforced | 36 | up to -15% | slows based on how full it is |
| Nether | 27 | normal | fire resistant |
Equip in the chestplate armor slot. Right-click to open the backpack inventory. A 3D model renders on the player in both first and third person.
Sneak + right-click to place your backpack as a block. It works like a chest. Break it to pick it back up with everything still inside.
Large and Reinforced backpacks slow you down, but only when they have items in them. An empty Large backpack has zero penalty. Fill all 27 slots and you lose 10% movement speed. Reinforced goes up to 15%. Small, Medium and Nether have no penalty at all.
